How to Create a Welcoming Guest Room

We’ve had several guests stay with us since we moved into our home last summer. There have been times I’ve been prepared and felt like the space was put together and welcoming, and unfortunately times I threw everything together last minute and missed a thing or two. We love having visitors and I never want them to worry about being a burden for having to ask for something. I want people to walk in and feel at home having everything they need within an arm’s reach. I recently compiled a list in hopes of accomplishing this.

Some of the items listed are very obvious like clean sheets, towels, and blankets. Others are things you can provide your guests with so they feel at home in a relaxing space. I love using trays to organize things at home and they’re so convenient for guest rooms. They add a beautiful detail and your guests can easily move them to a nightstand or dresser. In mine I have a vase of fresh flowers, towels, toiletries, and my favorite candle. The Blue Volcano candle is perfect for a guest room because the scent is so fresh and clean – everyone will love it. Abboo Candle Co. is a local company we love (#shopsmall) that sells clean burning soy candles and melts. I’m linking some of my favorite products at the bottom of this post along with a discount code.

Since not everything listed on my checklist fits nicely in the tray, I also utilize a nightstand. For me, there’s nothing worse than being thirsty in the middle of the night and not having a glass of water close by. This container and these café glasses are budget-friendly and super cute! While you’re at the nightstand add a small dish for jewelry and stick a phone charger and tissues in the drawer. I love the idea of a wi-fi password print and these match containers…so cute and practical. Put some extra blankets in the closet and you’re all set. Five star review guaranteed!

I love the fresh and clean scents of White Cotton Blossom, Sunshine and Grace, and Mahogany Coconut. Hazelnut Coffee is my favorite to burn on Sunday mornings and Lime in the Coconut is the perfect tropical scent. You can even build your own set of of six mini candles to try several at once. There are so many options and you honestly can’t go wrong with any of these products. Enter WHITNEY15 at checkout for 15% off!

  1. Wow, you must be my daughter. I am the person who also brings my own towels if I am traveling in the car or If I have room in my luggage. I think I got it from Joy on the View several years ago.
