Ipsy Glam Bag Review

I started receiving Ipsy Glam Bags in September 2018 and haven’t looked back since. I love trying products I wouldn’t have picked out myself and have gotten some great deals along the way. If you haven’t heard of Ipsy, it’s a subscription beauty service whose customers receive personalized “glam bags” for only $10 each month. You can read more about them here, but for now I’m excited to share my review with you.

I created a profile when I signed up to give details on my skin tone, hair + eye colors, beauty brands I typically shop, and what types of products I wanted to try. Each month I receive a makeup case with five products inside. Some are sample or travel size, but many are full size products so I feel like I’m getting such a bargain! And let me tell you, your girl loves a good deal. What can I say…I get it from my momma! The bag this month is embossed with the quote “and off she went to change the world,” which is perfect since March is Women’s History Month! While I love the inspiration behind this months bag, I personally don’t love getting a makeup bag itself each month because I find it wasteful. I typically just give them to my nieces to carry things in or play with, but this post has given me some great ideas on ways to re-use them. The products I received in the bag this month were: a liquid foundation, a shimmer highlighter, a hydrating hair mask, a powder eyeshadow, and an angled brush. I added a lip gloss and shader brush for $3 each, as well.

YENSABC Foundation in Medium (full size product – $38)
This foundation is a great match to my skin tone and gives full coverage without leaving an oily feel or heavy look. I like it a lot and will use the tube I received, but probably won’t purchase more because I already have a foundation I love (more on that in an upcoming post). The silver lining to receiving a product I don’t necessarily need is that it reminded me to update my profile. I was able to go into my Ipsy app and change my settings so foundation is no longer reflected as something I’d like to receive.

ROYAL & LANGNICKEL MŌDA® Pro Precision Angle Brush ($6)
I’m so glad I got this brush this month because I’ve needed a highlighter brush! It’s perfect for applying highlighter above my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose.

LOTTIE LONDON Shimmer Squad Highlighter in The Good Girl (quad set – $11)
I’m very happy with this product! It gives the perfect amount of shimmer and will be a great shade as my skin tans this summer. I will definitely consider buying the quad once this one runs out. This is as great example of a brand I wouldn’t have tried if I hadn’t received it as part of my glam bag.

TRISSOLA Intense Hydrating Mask (full size product – $28)
For the sake of being completely transparent I have to admit I wasn’t super pumped when I got this product. I have a hair mask I love, but wanted to at least try this one so I could give an honest review and ended up loving it after one use! The mask is definitely hydrating, as advertised. It made my hair so soft and gave it an overall healthy feel!

IBY BEAUTY Eyeshadow in Get Soaked ($9)
This is a beautiful shade and definitely something I’ll wear a lot. It’s great swept across the lower lid by itself or as an accent in the crease with a lighter shade as the main shadow color. Plus, I’ll also be able to use this as a blush. Love it!

BONUS PICKS: SLMISSGLAM Short Shader Brush (set $39) & CIATÉ LONDON [Mini] Lip Lustre in Kiss Me (full size – $17)
I chose to add these products before my bag shipped for $3 each…such great deals! The brush is perfect for contouring my nose and the gloss is sheer + shiny and the perfect top coat for any lipstick. These are the first bonus products I’ve added to my glam bag, and I love them both!

Verdict? I’m sure you’re assuming by now I’m all in on the Ipsy Glam Bags and you’re right! I love that these give me an inexpensive way to explore products and play around with new looks. I highly recommend trying the service whether you’re a makeup pro or still trying to learn. Sign up here* if you’re interested and let me know what you think!

Cheers!
